NovaUCD has also appointed an Engineer in Residence (ENGiR). The role will be filled by Dr Eoin O’Cearbhaill, a biomedical engineer with extensive expertise in designing and developing minimally invasive technologies for diagnosing and treating disease. He has contributed to the establishment of three UCD spin-out companies.
The EiR and ENGiR will be supported by the NovaUCD team to forge closer ties with inventors and entrepreneurs to accelerate novel technologies emerging from UCD to market and to identify opportunities which may be appropriate for a UCD spin-out or start-up.
The focus of the NovaUCD in-residence programme is to actively engage with seasoned and experienced executives with deep domain expertise in commercial and engineering sectors who can provide advice and support to members of the UCD entrepreneurial and research communities.
Commenting on the appointments, Liam Cronin, UCD Director of Innovation said: “I am delighted to welcome Ciaran and Eoin onboard respectively as our new Entrepreneur in Residence and Engineer in Residence at NovaUCD.”
“Our aim is to now leverage their deep commercial and engineering expertise to help accelerate promising technologies emerging from UCD on the path towards market, spin-out or start-up success.”
