Telstra Health has launched a new aged care analytics suite designed to bring clinical, medication and operational data into a single reporting environment – helping providers monitor resident care, identify risks and meet regulatory requirements.
The Care Insights suite includes more than 20 new and enhanced analytics capabilities, with a focus on clinical oversight, quality reporting and organisational performance.
Offered through Telstra Health’s Clinical Manager platform, the suite is intended to reduce reliance on separate reporting tools and provide aged care staff and management with a more comprehensive view of resident care and facility performance.
The company said the launch comes as Australian aged care providers respond to strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, greater transparency requirements through Star Ratings and increasing pressure on workforce and resources.
Telstra Health chief health and risk officer Dr Monica Trujillo said providers were increasingly required to make decisions using information held across multiple systems.
“Aged care providers are being asked to make faster, better decisions in a complex and evolving regulatory environment using information that is often spread across multiple systems.
“Our focus with Care Insights is to bring critical care and operational data together, so leaders and care teams can see what is happening, act earlier and make decisions with greater confidence, supporting better, more responsive care for the people they serve.”
The suite includes three principal capabilities: Organisation 360, Resident 360 and Resident Events.
Organisation 360 consolidates compliance, clinical and operational information across facilities to support governance, regulatory reporting and management decisions.
Resident 360 provides a consolidated view of clinical and care information for individual residents, while Resident Events brings together incidents, falls, wounds, assessments and follow-up activities to help care teams identify patterns and monitor clinical risks.
Telstra Health has also introduced enhanced incident and wound reporting capabilities.
Regents Garden Group chief operating officer Alina Zhang said the new reporting tools were already reducing the time staff spent accessing and reviewing clinical information.
“The new reports make it much easier to access and review clinical data, already reducing reporting time by around 30 per cent per week, while providing a clearer overall picture of resident care and quality indicators.
“With better visibility, our teams can make more informed decisions, identify areas requiring attention, and spend more time focused on delivering safe, high-quality care for residents.”
The analytics capabilities build on Telstra Health’s Assessment Framework, developed in collaboration with 23 aged care organisations and informed by more than 850 hours of research.
The company said the framework and analytics suite would also provide a foundation for future AI capabilities, including AI-assisted resident summaries, natural language analytics and predictive insights.
Telstra Health clinical adoption specialist for clinical innovation and effectiveness Caroline Parker said consistent clinical data collection was central to developing more advanced analytics.
“High-quality analytics starts with high-quality data. By aligning assessments with the strengthened Quality Standards and capturing clinically meaningful information from the outset, we’re helping providers deliver more consistent, data-informed care while building the foundation for the next generation of AI-powered aged care.”
The company plans to incorporate the analytics capabilities into Corus, its developing care intelligence platform, which is intended to connect data, workflows and insights across aged care, primary care and other healthcare settings.
