Ireland-headquartered clinical documentation platform T-Pro has announced its acquisition of BigHand Healthcare, a provider of workflow orchestration and optimisation solutions for the health sector.
T-Pro CEO Jonathan Larbey said bringing together T-Pro and BigHand Healthcare “creates a stronger organisation that enables healthcare organisations to scale AI, improve productivity and reduce administrative burdens on frontline teams.”
“The NHS, for example, is increasingly focused on how AI can be deployed safely and effectively within real clinical environments. We believe the successful adoption of AI in healthcare depends on deep workflow integration, operational reliability, governance and proven deployment capability across complex healthcare organisations.”
BigHand CEO Sam Toulson said it was “an exciting step for the clients and the patients they serve. By bringing together our complementary strengths, customers will have access to greater capability while continuing to be supported by the teams they know and trust.”
Healthcare at BigHand Managing Director Steve Russell said that by joining T-Pro, “clients will have access to a powerful offering that brings together voice, clinical documentation, ambient voice technology and workflow.”

In a statement, the companies said the acquisition would combine their “complementary strengths.”
“More health organisations are now set to benefit from T-Pro’s end-to-end optimisation capability, combining unique T-Pro Ambient Voice Technology (AVT) with streamlined workflow optimisation that saves time for frontline clinicians and their teams, making them more productive.
“With a 15-year-heritage, BigHand Healthcare, a division of BigHand, has long-standing relationships with many NHS trusts, private hospitals and GP practices.”
The acquisition would see all BigHand Healthcare employees transition to T-Pro, adding to an innovation-led team with close to 200 employees across the healthcare sector.
All current BigHand Healthcare clients and staff would become part of the T-Pro group.
The companies noted that numerous NHS Trusts and large private healthcare organisations are already using T-Pro, which offered a “best-of-breed approach, not tied to any specific electronic healthcare record system, T-Pro solutions will seamlessly integrate with existing workflows.”
“The acquisition will lead to faster turnaround times and better resource use at more healthcare organisations, while providing greater insight into performance.”
