Healthcare rostering software provider RosterLab has landed a contract with Health NZ’s digital innovation programme HealthX for a project aimed at improving roster quality, supporting clinician wellbeing and reducing administrative burden across healthcare services.
The RosterLab pilot would include Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) services at Counties Manukau, Waikato, Starship and Waitematā.
The pilot would be delivered through a structured implementation programme, designed to move from initial scoping and stakeholder alignment through to live roster deployment and ongoing support.
Implementations could run in parallel across multiple sites, allowing several healthcare services to be onboarded simultaneously.
RosterLab co-founder Daniel Ge said the platform used optimisation technology and AI-assisted workforce management tools to help healthcare organisations build high-quality rosters that balance operational requirements with staff preferences, fatigue management, skill mix, compliance obligations and workforce wellbeing.
“What has stood out most is how much clinicians and roster coordinators care about getting this right,” Mr Ge said.
“Rostering affects people’s day-to-day lives, their weekends, their recovery time, their family commitments and their sense of fairness at work. Seeing teams engage so deeply with improving that experience has been incredibly encouraging.”
Mr Ge said that by combining HealthX’s innovation pipeline and RosterLab’s workforce optimisation technology, the pilot would explore how digital tools and AI-powered rostering software can help healthcare teams spend less time managing rosters and more time focusing on patient care.
The collaboration stemmed from an introduction facilitated by Diana Siew from MedTech-IQ, who invited RosterLab to present to HealthX late last year, as part of HealthX’s search for innovative, clinically driven digital solutions that could be rapidly deployed within the health system.
As part of its partnership with MedTech-iQ, HealthX takes part in regular innovation pitch events to connect with local innovators and support deployment in the public health system.
Last year, Royal Perth Hospital partnered with RosterLab to implement the platform across its Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
