Australian healthcare AI company MediQo has appointed technology executive and company director Steven Strange as its Director of Aged Care, with the aim of supporting the company’s continued expansion across residential aged care and home care.
MediQo CEO Arash Zohuri said Mr Strange would bring more than four decades of experience in technology strategy, business growth, governance and large-scale program delivery – with particular expertise across health and social care.
“Steven’s experience building and governing health technology businesses, combined with his deep understanding of aged care operations, makes him an invaluable addition to MediQo,” Mr Zohuri said.
“His appointment will help ensure our technology continues to be developed in close alignment with the systems, governance requirements and real-world workflows of aged care providers.”
Mr Stange said he was pleased to join MediQo at a time when aged care organisations were exploring how artificial intelligence can support their teams, “while working alongside their existing systems and processes.”
“The opportunity is not simply to introduce new technology, but to apply it thoughtfully to reduce administrative pressure, improve the quality and consistency of information, and give care teams more capacity to focus on residents and clients,” Mr Strange said.
In a statement, MediQo noted that as the founding Chief Executive of Health Metrics, Mr Strange led the company’s global strategy and took its technology products into Australian and international markets.
“Under his leadership, Health Metrics achieved significant growth across Australia and New Zealand before a majority stake was sold to private equity in 2021, followed by the remaining stake in 2025.
“Steven has delivered complex technology projects for some of Australia’s largest for-profit and not-for-profit aged care providers. He is highly regarded for his expertise in data logistics, enterprise data science, aged care metrics and artificial intelligence, with his work spanning profitability, compliance, sustainability, scalability and predictive modelling.”
In his role with MediQo, Mr Strange would help shape the company’s aged care strategy, working closely with providers, industry leaders and technology partners to ensure MediQo’s AI capabilities address the practical challenges experienced by care teams.
MediQo said its platform was designed to complement the technology infrastructure already used by aged care organisations.
“The platform integrates with major care management systems, including eCase and other established platforms, helping providers introduce AI-assisted workflows without replacing the core systems that underpin their operations.
“MediQo’s aged care capabilities support workflows that include resident intake, language agnostic note taking, SIRS, handover, clinical and incident analytics, AN-ACC classification optimisation as well as administrative automation. Staff can operate the system using their preferred language. MediQo will translate any input into structured English as required.”
Mr Stange’s broader career has included senior technology leadership roles across multiple industries, academic and industry research and advisory and board positions.
He holds a Master of Information Science, along with Computing and Law qualifications from Monash University, and is a member of both the Australian Computer Society and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
MediQo said the appointment reflected its commitment to working collaboratively with aged care providers, care management system vendors and industry partners to support practical, secure and interoperable AI adoption across the sector.
