HL7 Australia has elected Kate Ebrill as chair following its 2026 annual general meeting, with Neeraj Maharaj and Michael Strachan joining its board.
Ms Ebrill was elected unopposed after serving as interim chair for the past seven months.
Mr Maharaj joins the board with more than 20 years’ experience delivering national and jurisdictional digital health initiatives across Australia.
His experience spans digital health strategy, clinical information systems, national infrastructure and healthcare interoperability, including work involving HL7 V2, CDA, SNOMED CT and FHIR-based services.
Mr Strachan is head of strategic partnerships at healthcare technology company Magentus and has more than two decades’ experience across healthcare technology, informatics and transformation.
He is also a contributor to the HL7 Australia eRequesting Working Group and Sparked FHIR Accelerator.
Andy Bond, Gil Carter and Dr Isobel Frean were re-elected to the board.
Dr Peter Sprivulis and Richard Dixon Hughes concluded their board service at the AGM.
HL7 Australia said the new board would focus on strengthening the connection between standards development, implementation and adoption across the Australian health system.
