€5.2m offered for EU digital health solutions

EIT Health has announced a new funding call for mature digital, data-driven and AI-powered healthcare solutions that are ready to scale across European markets.

Selected projects will receive funding of up to €650,000 to accelerate market entry, generate real-world evidence, strengthen market access and support the adoption of clinically validated innovations across healthcare systems.

EIT Health’s Innovation Uptake Call is open to organisations from across the ‘Knowledge Triangle’ of industry, education and research to submit applications for collaborative projects focused on patient-centric digital health solutions starting at Innovation Maturity Level (IML) 7 – Validation of Solution.

Proposed solutions must have a clear medical purpose and meet the definition of a medical device or in-vitro diagnostic medical device under European regulations MDR 2017/745 and IVDR 2017/746.

These devices could include software intended to be used alone or in combination with hardware, such as scanners, sensors and monitors, and include static and self-learning algorithms, including artificial intelligence and machine learning.

They can be used by patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and health system users in the broadest sense.

The proposed technology must be clinically validated and regulated, including having obtained a CE mark, and have demonstrated initial traction across one or several EU markets.

Eligible projects must include a consortium of at least two independent legal entities from different Horizon Europe countries and include partners from at least two sides of the Knowledge Triangle – industry, research and education. The consortium must be led by a commercialising entity responsible for bringing the solution to market. Individuals cannot apply.

The funding call is not open to products primarily designed for wellness or lifestyle purposes that can be used without medical oversight. Healthcare management systems and other solutions that do not directly address medical conditions or treatments are also excluded.

Total funding of €5.2 million will be divided among up to eight winning projects, with a maximum of €650,000 per project.

The funding covers up to 50 per cent of total project costs, with co-funding required. The focus will be on commercialisation pilots in real-world healthcare settings, product usability testing and market adaptation, go-to-market strategy and business model validation, health economic analysis, and reimbursement pathway development.

Winning projects will be expected to generate at least €10,000 in revenue within one year of the project ending and reach at least 150,000 patients or citizens within three years.

Funded projects will also be required to generate clinical, economic and commercial evidence to support adoption, as well as demonstrate scalable, sustainable business and deployment models across European markets.

Application is through EIT Health’s application platform.

The closing date for applications is 16.00 CET September 16, 2026.
