Dedalus has completed a proof of concept for a next-generation version of its i.Pharmacy platform, as it progresses plans for a cloud-enabled, web-based platform.
The company said the proof of concept validated the proposed technology, with current work focused on aligning existing functions, data structures and system integrations with the new architecture.
AI-assisted development tools have been used to accelerate prototyping, while Dedalus has also consulted AWS technical specialists on potential architecture and development approaches.
Dedalus ANZ General Manager, Product, Madeleine Pitney said, “Modernising a solution as critical as i.Pharmacy requires careful evaluation of both technology and customer needs. Our engagement with AWS technical specialists is helping inform that process as we continue to assess future opportunities for the solution.”
Beyond the architectural work, opportunities have also been identified to enhance the i.Pharmacy user experience. Newer technologies are being considered to deliver a more responsive and contemporary interface while preserving the workflows and functionality customers know and trust.
In May, members of the project team travelled to Chennai to collaborate closely with technical and delivery teams. Through a series of workshops and working sessions, the teams reviewed POC findings, explored technical opportunities, worked through challenges and aligned on priorities for the next phase of development.
Building on the success of the POC, work is continuing to validate key architectural assumptions, further develop AI capabilities and assess user interface enhancements.
Together, these activities are helping shape a more agile and maintainable i.Pharmacy solution, Dedalus said.
Dedalus shared its vision for the next-generation i.Pharmacy in December 2025, outlining plans for a modern, cloud-enabled, web-based solution designed to support the evolving needs of pharmacy teams and healthcare organisations.
