The Critical Care Information System (CCiS) has been successfully launched at Cavan General Hospital, marking the third site to go live in the Dublin and North East region.
The deployment of the Philips IntelliSpace Critical Care and Anaesthesia (ICCA) system, delivered in partnership with Cardiac Services, replaces paper-based documentation in the critical care unit. ICCA is designed to capture and display high-density clinical data, supporting clinical decision-making, reducing administrative burden and improving communication across multidisciplinary teams.
The Cavan go-live comes close on the heels of the deployment of the ICCA solution at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown in April.
Klaire Trench-Morris, HSE Acute Delivery Programme Manager for Critical Care, said “Completing the third site in the regional multi-tenancy roll-out is a significant accomplishment and a credit to every individual and team involved. It is a milestone that strengthens digital capability across our critical care services and sets a strong foundation for future deployments.”
In a statement, the HSE said the Cavan roll-out had been the most efficient to date.
“As the result of an intensive period of regional planning and collaboration, this implementation represents the most efficient deployment undertaken to date by the National Programme and the vendor. The success of this rollout reflects the combined efforts of local clinical and technical teams in Cavan General Hospital, supported by strategic leadership from the Dublin and North East regional implementation team,” the statement said.
With three sites live in Dublin and North East, the next steps for the region include optimising interfaces, expanding integration to include MedLIS and progressing towards project close.
The CCiT Programme is also shifting its focus to the next region, Dublin and South East, where preparations are underway to mobilise resources for the deployment of CCiS across Waterford, Wexford, South Tipperary and Kilkenny.
The HSE’s Digital for Care Capital Plan 2026 sets aside funding of almost €1.4 million for the implementation of CCiS at five sites, the roll-out of an ICU clinical audit system and completion of ADT (Admit, Discharge, Transfer) and OUR (Observation Reporting) interfacing.
