Bayside & Baret roll out role-based clinical messaging

Bayside Health Peninsula has signed a multi-year agreement with Australian healthcare technology provider Baret Technologies to introduce role-based clinical messaging across five hospital campuses in Victoria.

The health service expects to complete the rollout within three months, covering Peninsula University Hospital (formerly Frankston Hospital), Rosebud Hospital, Frankston Public Surgical Centre, Golf Links Road Rehabilitation Centre and The Mornington Centre.

Baret’s platform allows clinical staff to send messages to a designated role rather than an individual, directing communications to the person currently responsible for that role or on shift.

Built on Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365, the system is designed to replace communication methods including hospital switchboards and unauthorised consumer messaging applications with a secure, auditable messaging platform.

The technology is also intended to improve coordination between clinical teams and support patient flow across hospital services.

Baret is already used by several Australian public health services, including Austin Health, Monash Health, Mercy Health, Bendigo Health and Albury Wodonga Health.

The company said its platform was also deployed across metropolitan and regional health services in Western Australia.

Baret Technologies CEO Jane Prowse said the partnership would support Bayside Health Peninsula’s efforts to modernise clinical communication.

“Role-based communication has already made a measurable difference for public health services across Australia, and we look forward to supporting the teams as adoption grows,” Ms Prowse said.
