The AMA says Sharing by Default which starts today July 1 for most written pathology and diagnostic imaging reports should make My Health Record more useful in clinical practice by improving the visibility of results across different care settings and supporting a fuller clinical picture.
“We have consistently argued that digital health reform must improve clinical usability, workflow integration, and continuity of care. These changes should help move My Health Record in that direction,” the AMA states.
“The expansion of share by default measures will provide consumers and practitioners with a fuller record, reduced risk of blind spots, and ultimately better connected care.
“As patients may access some reports before follow-up occurs, it remains important for there to be clear discussion between doctors and patients about results availability and follow-up arrangements.”
