Garbage People
Social media has come up with a new title for public officials who seem to have a deaf ear to the plights of their people – “garbage person of the week.” Who qualifies? Well it’s the leader who does not appreciate the pain ordinary people are feeling when they go to the supermarket or try to fill the family car with fuel to take the kids to school every day. It is the leader who has never shopped for groceries, who is chauffeured around town in a huge gas guzzler and couldn’t care less what fuel costs. The people demand at least some empathy. So who is your garbage person of the week? Maybe we could find a sponsor and have a presentation on the TV each week? Of course, to be fair we should also have our Hero of the Week-that person who does something courageous to further the rights of their constituents. Something to aspire to? Get your votes in now.
