Alcidion has launched a new patient administration system (PAS) built on its Miya platform, targeting hospitals looking to replace ageing administrative systems.
Miya Patient Administration is designed to integrate administrative and clinical workflows, bringing together referrals, waiting lists, bookings and patient information in a single system.
The new PAS has been developed using knowledge from Alcidion’s existing PCS patient administration system, with AI-assisted development helping the company build new modules on the Miya platform.
The system is designed to give administrative staff a real-time view of each patient’s progress through the hospital, including outstanding tasks and responsibility for the next stage of care.
It also uses hospital-defined rules and AI to help staff prioritise work, with the aim of reducing manual processes, improving waiting list management and providing earlier visibility of bed and theatre capacity.
Alcidion Group managing director and CEO Kate Quirke said hospitals had invested heavily in clinical systems while administrative teams continued to rely on outdated technology.
“Hospitals have invested heavily in clinical systems, while the teams managing referrals, waiting lists and bookings have been left working with tools built for another era,” Ms Quirke said.
“Miya Patient Administration gives them an intuitive system that captures information once, reduces manual effort and connects their work seamlessly with the clinical teams they support.”
The new PAS joins Alcidion’s existing patient flow, emergency care and virtual care solutions on the Miya platform, which is used in hospitals across Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
Built on the FHIR interoperability standard, Miya supports real-time integration with other hospital systems.
Alcidion said hospitals would be able to implement the PAS as a standalone starting point for adopting other Miya products or add it to an existing Miya deployment.
