Heidi raises A$475m to expand beyond clinical notes

Australian clinical AI company Heidi has secured US$340 million (A$475 million) in new funding as it looks to expand its platform beyond clinical documentation and into AI agents that can carry out healthcare workflows under clinician supervision.

The funding is made up of a US$100 million (A$140 million) Series C round led by Blackbird and a US$240 million (A$335 million) growth investment led by General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund. The Series C values Heidi at US$900 million (A$1.26 billion).

The latest round values Heidi at US$900 million (AU$1.26 billion).

Heidi co-founder and CEO Dr Thomas Kelly said the funding would support further adoption across global health systems, development of agentic AI capabilities around patient visits and the regulatory and clinical safety work required to support them.

“From the day I started Heidi, the ambition was always bigger than writing doctor’s notes. I imagined that AI would sit alongside clinicians and complete real work under their supervision,” Dr Thomas Kelly said, adding “that’s the shift we’re now making: from documenting care to helping clinicians act on it.”

He said Heidi’s next generation of AI agents would be designed to work through healthcare workflows and return tasks to clinicians for review, allowing them to remain in control of decisions – with part of the new funding going towards clinical evidence, quality management systems and regulatory submissions for its agentic AI capabilities.

The new capabilities will not initially be available in the UK or European Union.

Existing investors Phoenix Court, Point72 Private Investments and Headline also participated in the Series C.
