Dedalus has launched its next-generation web-based patient administration system in the UK and Ireland.
ORBIS PAS helps organisations to reduce system fragmentation by bringing administrative and clinical workflows closer together. It provides a modern administrative foundation using advanced analytics and modern interoperability standards.
The new PAS includes an AI-powered referral management component, which captures paper or email referrals and automatically recreates them within the PAS.
It incorporates AI, speech recognition, and ambient voice technologies, helping teams identify priority patients, long waiters, and potential breaches earlier. In addition, historical trends and patient preference data are leveraged to predict and reduce missed outpatient appointment
Built around the principle of ‘most used, first used’, the platform positions the information and actions staff use most at the forefront, thereby reducing clicks and unnecessary navigation and staff to complete high-volume activity more efficiently.
The system provides end-to-end visibility across referrals, appointments, admissions, transfers and discharge processes, improving patient flow.
Operational worklists, dashboards, and workflow automation enable organisations to capture data at the point of administration and care, which aids in statutory activity reporting, performance management and quality compliance.
ORBIS PAS is currently in use in 95 per cent of acute hospitals in Ireland use the i.Patient Manager (iPM) PAS. Dedalus says the launch of ORBIS PAS provides a clear and structured transition pathway for these customers.
Richard Craven, Managing Director, Dedalus UK and Ireland, said: “Patient administration is too often treated as back-office housekeeping, when it has a direct impact on patient experience, operational performance and safety.”
“With ORBIS PAS, we are rethinking how patient administration should work for modern teams – making the most common tasks easier, surfacing the right information at the right time, and helping staff move from reactive administration to proactive patient management.”
Dedalus is inviting NHS and HSE operational, administrative and digital leaders to preview ORBIS PAS and provide structured feedback using the System Usability Scale (SUS). The company says the feedback with “help create a platform grounded in modern healthcare realities”.
Dedalus entered the Irish health system more than 30 years and currently has contracts with several major Irish hospitals, including St James’s Hospital, the Mater Hospital, Beaumont Hospital, and the Midwest Hospital Group, as well as community services across the country.
Its healthcare appointments platform Swiftqueue manages more than 4 million medical appointments annually in Ireland. Globally, the company’s software is being used by more than 7,500 healthcare organisations and 5,700 labs and diagnostic centres.
In December 2025, Dedalus announced a €10 million Irish expansion strategy which will create 100 new high-value jobs in Ireland over the next four years.
The Irish expansion is focused on research, development and innovation. The company opened a new Irish Headquarters in Dublin in June 2026.
