Medical Lead – Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Medical Lead to provide clinical leadership and strategic direction within our University Health and Counselling Service.

This is a unique opportunity to combine clinical excellence with leadership in a purpose-driven environment that places student wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. As Medical Lead, you will play a key role in shaping the delivery of primary healthcare services for a diverse student population while supporting a team of dedicated clinicians to provide outstanding patient-centred care. Working closely with the General Manager and senior leadership team, you will contribute to service planning, clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and the ongoing development of a positive, collaborative, and high-performing clinical culture.

You are an experienced and respected medical practitioner who is passionate about delivering high-quality healthcare and supporting the development of others.

Ngā pūkenga motuhake | Important skills and experience

• Current registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and a current practising certificate
• Significant experience working in General Practice or primary healthcare
• Demonstrated clinical leadership experience and the ability to support and mentor clinicians
• Strong understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety principles
