AI care partner Heidi is looking to expand its presence across North Asia with the launch of a regional headquarters in Hong Kong and new partnerships with healthcare and university organisations in the region.
The company said it began gaining traction among clinicians in Hong Kong in early 2024, before formally establishing its North Asia headquarters there last year.
It has since partnered with EC Healthcare, one of Hong Kong’s largest non-hospital healthcare providers, to deploy its AI technology across clinical workflows.
Heidi has also signed agreements with Hong Kong Metropolitan University to support AI-ready healthcare training and HKUST Business School to research the role of AI in physician decision-making and consultation quality.
A further agreement with City University of Hong Kong’s Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine is set to explore the use of AI documentation in veterinary medicine.
Heidi’s Hong Kong representative Ivan Wong said the company had received support from the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) as it expanded in the market.
“Working with Austrade gives Australian innovators like Heidi instant credibility in international markets,” Mr Wong said.
“Their on-the-ground networks opened doors to top-tier enterprise partners and academic institutions in Hong Kong far faster than we could have done alone, directly accelerating our mission to expand global healthcare capacity.”
Austrade said it had provided Heidi with market insights and introductions to healthcare providers, academic institutions, government agencies and other organisations – including introducing some of the company’s earliest customers in Hong Kong.
Heidi plans to use Hong Kong as a base for further expansion across North Asia, while building its local clinical, sales and technical capabilities.
The company is also looking to expand its technology beyond clinical documentation towards a broader AI platform supporting clinical decision-making, task management and workflow automation..
