Global Health has launched a new productivity platform for its MasterCare patient administration system (PAS), aimed at providing real-time bed flow and theatre management capabilities for hospitals and day surgery facilities.
The PAS Productivity Platform has been designed to use data already held within MasterCare PAS to support operational decision-making around bed flow, theatre utilisation and patient throughput.
It would be made available to existing MasterCare PAS customers as well as hospitals, day hospitals and procedure facilities implementing the PAS for the first time.
The platform has launched with two modules, covering Bed Flow and Theatre Management.
The Bed Flow module provides bed managers, nurse unit managers and discharge teams with a live view of bed status across a facility – including tools to allocate and transfer patients, manage patient leave and trigger escalations.
It also includes a predicted discharge list identifying patients and known discharge blockers, while time and capacity-based triggers can be used to alert teams to emerging pressure.
The Theatre Management module provides theatre coordinators, schedulers and nurse unit managers with an integrated view of theatre lists, utilisation and daily readiness.
Pre-admission status is incorporated into theatre lists, while surgeon preferences can be captured and applied to list construction.
The workflow follows patients from the anaesthetic bay through theatre and into recovery, capturing timing, prosthetics, specimens and MBS items as cases progress.
Meanwhile, utilisation and turnaround dashboards allow theatre coordinators to track sessions against targets.
Global Health managing director Mathew Cherian said the platform operated from within the existing MasterCare PAS environment, with users keeping their existing credentials and ward structures, theatre configurations, surgeon profiles, patient records and user roles carrying across.
“Hospital and day surgery teams are being asked to do more with the same beds, the same theatres and the same staff,” Mr Cherian said.
“The data to help them was already sitting inside MasterCare PAS, so building a platform to surface it in real time was the right next step, not a new system to learn or migrate to.
“The PAS Productivity Platform gives operational teams the visibility they need to make faster, informed decisions on the floor, without disrupting the systems they already rely on.”
Global Health was also developing additional modules – including a Reporting Hub, admissions and discharge functionality and a discharge planning and coding optimisation module.
